The great thing about basketball is that it can be played all year round. Wyndham Basketball consists of two seasons, a summer comp & a winter comp. The Winter competition usually starts first week after the Easter school holidays and concludes with Grand Finals prior to the September school holidays. The Summer Compition usually starts first week after the September holidays and concludes with Grand Finals prior to the Easter school holidays. Both competitions stop for each school holidays.

Players are expected to attend their team training and bring a basketball, appropriate footwear and a drink bottle (water stations are located around Eagle Stadium)
who fulfils the role of team manager?
Each team has a team manager, the team manager assists with the smooth running of the team. The team manager is the link between the coach, parents & the committee. Team managers will assign parents to score each game. Your team manager should be your first point of call for any questions.
AGE GROUPS
Age groups are set by the Wyndham Basketball Association who administer the competition in which the Flames Basketball Club compete in, the WBA follow the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) age group rules. In line with the WBA requirements, Flames allocate players to their correct age group based on year of birth.

Players will generally play two years (four seasons) in each age group once, two seasons as a bottom age player and two seasons as a top age player. With the spread of age groups it is common for younger aged players to be in lower grades in their first year in an age group, and a higher grade in their second year. This is not a reflection of a child’s ability, more so matching them against players of similar age and standard.

Each Summer Season is what is referred to as an age change season where the older year of birth children from the Winter age group, age up into the next age bracket.
